After hopefully winning the first daily double Sunday at Del Mar using race-1 “likely winner” Tatum’s Gold to race 2 “upset candidate” I’vegotafeeling, a portion of the profits can be used to wager a $1 pick three on races 5-7. The cost is $54.
The turf course played safe and fair Saturday at Del Mar. The speed backed up, and the closers closed. To be fair, the La Jolla winner Enterprising did not merely close – he exploded. It was another “wow” performance. Now is time to preview Sunday.
Sunday’s card at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club offers some nice opportunities throughout, and I’ll look to make a few plays over the course of the nine races.

The Grade 2 Play the King Stakes, an important tuneup for next month’s Woodbine Mile, came up very tough. Last year’s gate-to-wire winner, Dimension, is 8-1 on the line and doesn’t appear to have much of a chance in the seven-furlong turf sprint, which contains a lot of speed.
The 40-day Saratoga meet reached the halfway point at the completion of Saturday’s card. After 20 days and 202 races, there are few if any surprises in the races for leading owner, trainer, and jockey.
