As a cornerstone of Maryland's racing heritage since 1911, Laurel Park stands as a testament to the enduring allure of the sport across the state. Laurel is currently the primary destination for horse racing in Maryland, offering live racing during 10 months of the year.  

One of Laurel's most celebrated events is Maryland Million Day, dedicated to showcasing the state’s finest Thoroughbreds. Established in 1986, this prestigious race day features a series of stakes races with millions of dollars in purse money up for grabs. Other major races include the De Francis Memorial Dash, General George Stakes, Barbara Fritchie Handicap, and Federico Tesio Stakes. 

The track’s sister facility, Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, is slated to undergo massive renovations beginning in 2025. While this work is under way, Laurel Park will likely host both the 2025 and 2026 editions of the Preakness Stakes.
