Chicago raider Pirate’s Trove (7-5) will try to remain unbeaten in the $100,000 Etobicoke, a six-furlong overnight stakes for 3-year-old fillies.
The 40-day Saratoga meet comes to a close with a 10-race Labor Day program that will bring the total number of races run to 413, including a dozen steeplechase races.
The last Sunday at Saratoga is Exhibit A of waiting out the weather as long as possible.
There are three grass races on the card on which you can key not only plays for those races but also for your multi-race wagers.
I’ve been looking at the past performances for the Monday card at Parx all week. The four stakes on the day, worth a combined $1 million, are races 8 to 11. They are tied together with a 50-cent pick four and also rolling pick threes and daily doubles.
No stakes on this challenging 10-race card. The portable rail on the turf course is in lane 4.

Six of Sunday’s 12 races are scheduled for turf, including the Grade 3 Glens Falls (sixth), so horsemen and handicappers will be watching the skies due to a threat of wet weather. According to weather.com, after a partly cloudy start to Sunday, there is an 80 percent chance of thunderstorms developing through the afternoon.
