Some big fields to close out the card, coupled with the fact that by this point on the card some of your playing colleagues will be ‘chasing’, trying to stop the bleeding from earlier wagering injuries on the day, translate to a potential decent payoff in the day’s final pick three (races 9-11).
You’re never in a hurry to take a short price. In fact, oftentimes, it should send you scampering in another direction, where you instead look for options to go against public opinion. There are times, however, when the use of a solid, well-backed horse can be a wonderful thing, i.e., for your multi-race wagers.
There doesn’t seem a way around it. The Grade 3 Torrey Pines, at a mile on the main track, has at least three speed types who don’t figure to jump suddenly and change their style.
There’s something for everyone on Saturday’s 12-race card, which includes four graded stakes, six grass races, a $500,000-guaranteed late pick four on races 9-12, and a $150,000-guaranteed pick six on races 7-12.
