After sending out two more winners to start the week on Wednesday, Chad Brown is closing in on a third consecutive fall training title at Belmont Park.
Although the weekend is over, the graded stakes action at Keeneland is not. The return of racing at Keeneland on Wednesday brings us the Jessamine Stakes, a Grade 3 turf event for 2-year-old fillies that serves as a Win and You’re In prep for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
The weather in the Northeast is typically unsettled in early October, and a chance for showers and/or thunderstorms Tuesday into early Wednesday could affect Wednesday’s program, which is the first of six straight days of racing through Columbus Day.
Effective this week until the end of the meet on Dec. 7, Woodbine is offering $1,000 to owners for each ship-in starter in allowance races. Eligible horses must be stabled and trained outside of Ontario.

Saturday’s heavy rain has left, even in perfect drying conditions, a main track labeled good, and caused three of Sunday’s scheduled turf races to be moved to the main track. Those off-the-turf races are 2, 5, and 6.
After being deluged with rain Saturday morning, the weather has calmed, and today's racing at Belmont will be conducted under clear skies on a crisp fall afternoon.
Although not as loaded as the stakes-filled card Saturday, Sunday’s races at Keeneland feature two stakes: the Bourbon for 2-year-olds on the grass and the Spinster at 1 1/8 miles on the dirt for fillies and mares. Both Win and You’re In contests, they will produce Breeders’ Cup starters.
Following heavy rain Friday and scattered showers Saturday, turf racing may be scrapped.
It’s all 2-year-olds all the time this weekend, as Sunday’s Futurity and Matron come just 24 hours after the meet’s last two Grade 1 races, the Champagne and the Frizette.
