“Possible, yeah,” Brown said. “She just ran a remarkable race, and we’re so delighted with it. She really delivered.”

Barbara D. Livingston
Golden Tempo's dam, Carrumba, only missed the board twice in 15 starts as a racemare for Phipps Stable.

Carrumba was a fine racemare, carrying the iconic Phipps Stable black silks with cherry cap to victory four times, highlighted by the Grade 3 Top Flight Invitational Handicap in 2016. She only missed the board twice in 15 starts, and her seven additional graded stakes placings included, fittingly, a third in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Stakes in 2016 at Belmont Park.

Orseno won't run his pair if turf comes up soft in Thirsty Fish

Ryan Thompson / Coglianese Photo
Trainer Joe Orseno said Mattingly, along with stablemate Extendo, won't run on soft turf in Sunday's Thirsty Fish Handicap at Gulfstream.

Joe Orseno learned his lesson last time. With rain in the forecast at Gulfstream Park on Sunday, the trainer said he will scratch Mattingly and Extendo if the $75,000 Thirsty Fish Handicap is run on soft turf.

“Unfortunately, they’re calling for rain on Sunday, around 2 o’clock,” Orseno said. “If they decide to keep the race on the turf, I will not be running either one of my horses.”

In the $75,000 Go Cats Go Handicap last month, Orseno was of the opinion that the race should have been moved to synthetic after significant rainfall earlier in the day.
