An intriguing opener as five 2-year-old fillies - four first-timers and one experienced hand - knock heads going five furlongs.
The Sunday opener was run at 5 1/2 furlongs, and going into the race 17 of the 20 winners at the distance this meet were within a length of the lead after the first quarter-mile. Well, make it 18 for 21.

Both grass courses took on a good amount of rain last week, and the inside paths may have been best as the turf dried out over the weekend. After a couple of hot days, I'd expect the refreshed courses to play fairly.
The temporary rail will be in lane 2 for the two turf races on the eight-race card, which is made up of maiden and claiming events.
