A dropper in the first leg of the day’s last pick three may give you a nice starting point.
Rather than swing for the fences, a suggested play is simple – a pair of daily doubles that key non-favorites. The sequences are races 5-6 and 8-9. While neither double would pay a ton ($30 range), neither requires a huge investment – $4 each.
Saturday’s Grade 3 Bold Ruler Handicap should play similarly to a third-level allowance on closing weekend at Saratoga, when odds-on River Rocks led throughout, with second choice Salutos Amigos chasing him around the track.
One could go several different ways in the River Memories Stakes for fillies and mares, which will be run in lane 2, over a turf course which was firm on Friday.
The day looks as though it may start out a bit chalky, but hey, you take what the card gives you.
A nice day is on tap for the second-to-last card of the fall meet Friday at Keeneland before it comes to a conclusion Saturday. Fields were surprisingly short in a few races, most notably in the opener and in the featured eighth race, an open allowance for 3-year-old fillies.

Jockey Eurico Rosa Da Silva has dropped an appeal and will serve a three-day suspension Friday through Sunday.
Although post positions, defections from races, and other factors could still alter my thinking between now and next weekend, here are some early observations and leanings about the Breeders' Cup.
