I would be surprised if Upstart doesn’t run another solid race and get another solid Beyer in the Holy Bull. On the Beyer Speed Figures, Barbados is definitely the horse to beat in the Hutcheson.
When reviewing any wager, I always think I could have done better. If I make a score, the first question I ask is, “Could I have made more money?” It’s not greed – it’s just me wanting to maximize opportunities (and, okay, perhaps a little bit of greed). Handicappers could make a case for almost all of the horses in those races, and pick four players are betting blind into a last leg that features a debut runner trained by Chad Brown. Ideally, it would be nice to get a gauge on tote action, but that’s not going to happen with this type of wager.
