A threat of rain Saturday at Gulfstream should have handicappers paying close attention to the weather and, if at all possible, avoiding betting horses well in advance of post time. In most of the stakes today, I simply don’t have strong opinions. That is, with one exception: I do expect CONSUMER CREDIT (7) to take race 8, the Sweetest Chant for 3-year-old fillies on the grass. Even as the morning-line favorite at 2-1, think she warrants a win play – that’s how confident I am of her chances. I also will try a late pick four, focusing on her in the first leg as an ‘A’ play, using the ABC system used in DRF’s TicketMaker exotics program. I also will use QUALITY ROCKS (4) as a backup ‘B’ play. Then, in race 9, the Holy Bull, I will use three ‘As’ in the pick four: BLUEGRASS SINGER (4), FROSTED (1), and UPSTART (8). All have pluses and minuses to their credentials. Race 10 follows with the Forward Gal, a race in which I consider three-time California stakes winner SEDUIRE (5) and recent allowance winner ENCHANTRESS (6) as ‘A’ plays. Two ‘Bs’ go on the tickets: BY THE MOON (10) and TAYLOR S (3). Race 11 ends the sequence, and there three ‘As’ go on the pick four tickets: CRONINTHEBARBARIAN (8), CHIEF KITTEN (9), and DUBAI SKY (4). :: Build your pick four ticket with DRF TicketMaker | DRF TicketMaker (Mobile)
