Barbara Livingston
The Monday feature at Finger Lakes is the $50,000 Arctic Queen Stakes.

The $50,000 Arctic Queen Stakes at Finger Lakes is named for one of the track’s all-time great racemares, who has never been forgotten. Leading Monday’s renewal of the six-furlong sprint for fillies and mares is Gone and Forgotten, looking to add her name to the track’s history books by repeating in the race.

The consistent Gone and Forgotten, a homebred for Barry Schwartz, sports a career record of 16-10-2-2, with the majority of her races coming at Finger Lakes for trainer Michael Ferraro. Last year, she won both the Jack Betta Be Rite and the Arctic Queen.

He'spuregold tries open stakes again in Oceanport

Tom Keyser
He'spuregold has dominated statebreds and will try again against open stakes company in Sunday's Oceanport Stakes at Monmouth.

He’spuregold was one of just 64 New Jersey-bred horses foaled in 2018, and the 5-year-old has feasted on statebred restricted competition, going 5 for 5 in New Jersey-bred turf races. But He’spuregold long has hinted he could win an open stakes race, and Sunday at Monmouth Park might be the day he does.

Kitty's Pretty wins her debut by 5 3/4 lengths on June 16 at Gulfstream Park.

Kitty’s Pretty was a debut winner June 16 at Gulfstream Park. She was always prominent for a 5 3/4-length win in a maiden special weight sprint. For the effort, Kitty’s Pretty earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 66.

Barbara D. Livingston
Angel of Empire was third in the July 29 Jim Dandy in his last start.

Uncashed, Drew's Gold give turf a try in Mahony Stakes

Debra A. Roma
Uncashed won the off-turf Quick Call and will try again to make his turf debut in Sunday's Mahony at Saratoga.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Uncashed and Drew’s Gold have combined to win 9 of 12 starts on dirt, including four stakes. Neither has raced on turf.

Their connections, however, would like to try their charges on the grass and believe Sunday’s $150,000 Mahony Stakes at Saratoga for 3-year-olds at 5 1/2 furlongs is a good place to do it.

Weather permitting, of course.

Top choices have questions in Prix Jacques Le Marois

Megan Ridgwell
Inspiral, last year's Marois winner, was disappointing finishing last of five in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes, run over a soft course that was probably not to her liking.

Everyone has something to prove Sunday at Deauville Racecourse in the Group 1 Prix Jacques Le Marois.

Triple Time in his last start scored a 33-1 upset in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, easily his best race in a seven-start career. Marhaba Ya Sanafi, winner of the French 2000 Guineas and third in the French Derby, faces older horses for the first time. And is Inspiral this year at age 4 the same horse she was at 2 and 3?

Tranche squares off with Baffert's speedy pair in Best Pal

Benoit Photo
Tranche hasn’t raced since a solid victory in the Fasig-Tipton Futurity in June at Santa Anita.

The gap is glaring.

Since he won the Fasig-Tipton Futurity on June 17 at Santa Anita, Tranche has had one workout, going a half-mile in a quick 47.60 seconds on Wednesday at Del Mar.

At a glance, one workout between stakes spread eight weeks apart would seem insufficient for Tranche to win Sunday’s Grade 3 Best Pal Stakes for 2-year-olds at six furlongs at Del Mar.

Trainer Luis Mendez insists Tranche will be ready for the $200,000 Best Pal Stakes and a first-ever meeting with the exciting maiden race winners Muth and Prince of Monaco, both trained by Bob Baffert.

Sirtaki primed for U.S. debut in Bald Eagle Derby

Ryan Thompson/Coglianese Photos
Ari Gold, for trainer Todd Pletcher, looks like the controlling speed and main threat to European shipper Sirtaki in Sunday's Bald Eagle Derby at Laurel Park.

Sirtaki is new to trainer Arnaud Delacour’s barn, but the colt is familiar with stakes company, having placed third in the Derby du Midi on May 27 at Le Bouscat in France.

He’ll try to apply some of that European form on Sunday in Laurel Park’s Bald Eagle Derby for 3-year-olds at 1 3/16 miles, one of two $100,000 turf stakes with the Searching for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles.

“Sirtaki shipped to us last week,” Delacour said. “He seems to have recovered very well from the trip and the quarantine. He’s been galloping with us at Fair Hill and looked really good.”
