First post for Gulfstream racing is scheduled for 12:50 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Sensitivity has done her best work on the front end and should revert back to those tactics for Sunday’s eighth race at Gulfstream Park.

“She’s going to be closer this time, absolutely,” trainer Jose D’Angelo said. “She didn’t have the best trip last time.”

Eddie's New Dream, Rose Maddox ready for turf or dirt in Solana Beach

Benoit Photo
Eddie's New Dream is set to clash with Rose Maddox in Sunday's Solana Beach at Del Mar, no matter the surface, with Hurricane Hilary potentially disrupting racing this weekend.

Hurricane Hilary is threatening to wreck the Sunday program at Del Mar.

Expected rain from the Pacific Ocean storm is likely to reach the San Diego area early Sunday. A minor amount of rain would not affect a scheduled nine-race program, but significant rain could lead to races being moved from turf to dirt.

There is a possibility the program could be canceled in the event of substantial rainfall. Hilary is expected to lose power quickly as it moves north and comes ashore, bringing wind and rain to Southern California.

The 6-year-old now has a record of 11 wins, 14 seconds, and 8 thirds from 44 career starts with a bankroll of $203,698. He also boasts the most wins of any horse this season at Emerald Downs.

Moira looks to get back on winning track in Dance Smartly

Moira wins Queen's Plate at WO Aug 21 2022
Michael Burns
Moira, winning last year's Queen's Plate en route to a Sovereign Horse of the Year campaign, has been stymied by tough trips in her two starts in 2023.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – It’s been a year since Moira manhandled the boys in track-record time in the 2022 Queen’s Plate. The reigning Canadian Horse of the Year hasn’t won since, but she’s in solid form and could get back into the winner’s circle in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly, Sunday’s supporting feature on King’s Plate Day at Woodbine.

King's Plate favorite Kalik is a Grade 2 winner on turf for trainer Chad Brown but has never raced on a synthetic surface before.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – There’s a wide variety of contenders for bettors to peruse in Sunday’s 164th running of the $1 million King’s Plate, the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown at Woodbine, which lured 17 Canadian-bred 3-year-olds, plus two also eligibles.

The Plate was formerly known as the Queen’s Plate but got a name change this year following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the accession of King Charles III.

Alabama distance levels playing field as Taxed takes on Wet Paint a fourth time

Taxed trains at SAR Aug 17 2023
Barbara D. livingston
Even though Taxed is 0 for 3 against Wet Paint, trainer Randy Morse thinks the 1 1/4 miles of the Alabama is ideal for her.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Taxed spent a good part of the winter and early spring at Oaklawn Park in futile chase of Wet Paint, losing to that opponent in three stakes.

Randy Morse, the trainer of Taxed, believes he has a better filly now than at that time and Taxed will take on Wet Paint again in Saturday’s Grade 1, $600,000 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga.

Weekend GamePlan: Picks for Alabama, Del Mar Oaks, and King Edward

Barbara D. Livingston
Taxed's works since a loss in her last race, the Indiana Oaks, suggest a filly in full bloom for the Alabama.

Three-year-old turf fillies going nine furlongs in California, and 3-year-old dirt fillies going 10 furlongs at Saratoga. There’s a nice balance to that, and strong opinions have been formed in both the Del Mar Oaks and the Alabama.
