A M Milky Way won a prolonged stretch battle with even-money favorite Recount to prevail by a neck in Friday night's $75,000 Golden Circle Stakes.
Texas Air did his home state proud Friday night at Lone Star Park, where he closed with a rush to capture the Grade 3, $200,000 Texas Mile at 24-1. He won by three-quarters of a length over Hip Four Sixtynine, while it was another neck back to Rise Up in third.
Buoyed by ideal weather and a full field in a competitive Kentucky Oaks, attendance and wagering were both records for the Friday Oaks card at Churchill Downs in Louisville, according to figures released by the track.
