There may be a few linchpins on which you can key your multi-race wagers, including one at the very start.
Spy in the Sky, who has earned more money in steeplechase races than the rest of the field combined, gets weight from all seven of his rivals in Wednesday’s 12:25 p.m. opener.
It’s not an easy sequence, and I don’t have a race with a lone “A.” If one were to go the caveman route and just use all As, the bet is just $18 for each 50-cent increment. I’ll probably fish a little wider.
Be advised, this is not your typical Monday at Saratoga.

Last Wednesday’s steeplechase allowance that was cancelled due to inclement weather was brought back and redrawn as the first of 10 races Monday.
There are no toss-outs in Tuesday’s $46,000 feature at Parx Racing, a second-level $25,000 optional claimer at a mile and 70 yards on the main track. All seven horses show either a win or a close runner-up finish in one of their two most recent races.
