If win wagering were the only way to bet Saturday’s Grade 2 Cardinal at Churchill Downs, I’d pass on the race. The reason being, the horses I like – I’m Already Sexy and Royal Fury – are the morning-line favorites, and unless they drift up from their prices of 3-1 and 5-1, respectively, neither looks like an overlay.
I can’t resist Mystery Train here, even if the pace setup might not be ideal for him in the Delta Mile at Delta Downs.

A couple of imposing singles on the main track in Sunday’s late pick four offer the chance to spread in a pair of tough-to-figure grass races with a wide range of possible results.
Although a $27,574 pick six carryover is nothing to sneeze at, I’m interested in capitalizing on a couple of price horses earlier on the Sunday card.
Undefeated after two starts, Light the City towers over her rivals in the $100,000 Desi Arnaz Stakes (race 2) on Sunday at Del Mar. Bettors that enjoy wagering on short prices in small fields are welcome to knock themselves out.
I’m going to take the opportunity to observe the main track through an early double with fields of six and seven after scratches. The track was a harrowed “good” throughout Friday’s card, and early speed took a 0-for-8 collar, as the only front-running winner was Party Now in the day’s only turf race to stay on a yielding course.
