Litfin: Pick four play for Aqueduct on Sunday, Nov. 16
A couple of imposing singles on the main track in Sunday’s late pick four offer the chance to spread in a pair of tough-to-figure grass races with a wide range of possible results.
RACE 6: It’s tough to see past LIAM’S MAP (#5), an $800,000 purchase who ran a 90 Beyer Speed Figure when placing second in his debut and graduated soon after with a figure of 98 that would win many stakes races.
RACE 7: None of these New York-bred juvenile maiden fillies has had more than a race or two on firm turf, and several haven’t had any. We’re going to cast a wide net and use NOT NOW JOANIE (#1), DULCE DE LECHE (#2), CONGRESS PARK (#4), TRULY POSSIBLE (#5), FOURSTAR COOK (#6), and R Y SQUADRON (#10).
RACE 8: GOOD LUCK GUS (#5) has shown talent from the outset. He raced greenly through his initial races, but blinkers really moved him up for a win in the rich New York Breeders’ Futurity, and he was on short rest two weeks later going a mile and chasing the favored Ostrolenka in the Sleepy Hollow. He cuts back to six furlongs with twice as much rest between starts and will be hard to deny in the Notebook Stakes.
RACE 9: Anything can happen in this restricted turf claimer for non-winners of two, and we’re using man’s greatest invention – the wheel – to buy an interest in all 10 runners.
At 50 cents a combination, it’s a $30 play: 5 with 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 10 with 5 with ALL.
