LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Across much of the country on Saturday, the stakes emphasis is on grass racing – with six of day’s eight graded stakes scheduled for turf. Included among those six are four from Arlington Park, which is having its Arlington Million Preview Day, and two of the Warrior’s plays this week will be in those, plus another in the Grade 3 Robert G. Dick Memorial at Delaware.
Nolo Contendere (#6, ML 5-2) makes her debut in Thursday's third race at Belmont Park, a five-furlong maiden special weight race. Annisquam (#7, ML 6-1) returns in Thursday’s second race at Los Alamitos Race Course, a six-furlong starter allowance. It will be her first start since finishing first by 2 3/4-lengths in a maiden race June 7 at Santa Anita. The fourth- and fifth-place finishers from that race came back to win their next starts.

Overall, it was not a wise decision to play Sunday, but I am sometimes swayed by the temptation of a good race card or the thought that, “I know that horse.” On this holiday weekend, I believe our forefathers were looking down at me and saying, “What was he thinking?”
Trainer Stephen Dunn saddles Smart Kit (#2, ML 7-2) in Wednesday's seventh race at Indiana Grand, a six-furlong allowance optional claimer.
