The late Pick 4 at Woodbine on Saturday, the best one of the meet so far, starts on the eighth race, the nine-furlong Plate Trial Stakes, which has a vulnerable favorite in Federal Law.
Friday's late pick four sequence begins with Race 8 and involves three graded stakes races – the Grade 2 True North for older sprinters; the Grade 2 New York, for older fillies and mares going long on turf; and the Grade 2 Belmont Gold Cup, for older horses going even longer on turf.
On Monday, May 20, the Spring Oaks at Parx was given an 82 Beyer. The final time was 1:43.95 for 1 mile and 70 yards. The very next day with no rain to really affect the surface at Parx, the winner of the Spring Derby was awarded an 88 Beyer. The final time was 1:44.59. How can his Beyer be six points higher when he ran three-fifths of a second slower?
