BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, June 15, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Our final thought in last week’s column was “check the weather forecast,” which was a prophesy that worked one way and not the other for our Pix at Churchill Downs. Zyramid, hot favorite in the baby race, didn’t appear to like the mud, and when our turf-meant choice Confessing eschewed the mud to finish fifth in the off-the-turfer, our “weather forecast” filly, Gold Standard, drew in from the AE’s and came home nicely as the favorite. Including Gold Standard there were a dozen 3-year-old BreezeFigs maidens who won last week at: Arlington, Belmont (two, both BreezeFigs exactas), Finger Lakes, Gulfstream (two), Indiana, Laurel, Parx, Santa Anita and Thistledown, One juvenile broke its maiden at Indiana but the Tremont Stakes at Belmont was a BreezeFigs exacta. Today’s cards have a couple of interesting plays, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
2-Year-Olds:
Gulfstream Park, 10th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 4 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
Uncaptured King comes out of OBSAPR with a two-over-Par Group 2 profile with a basically average 24.04 foot stride length (SL) at a quarter mile. This may be a nice colt and at 6-to-1 morning line is very tempting for a lot of plays.
3-Year-Olds:
Indiana Downs, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Turf)
Discernment posted a three-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSJUN last year with a 24.59 foot SL that was two-thirds of a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. He’s on the rail, which could be an issue, but someone likes him at 3-to-1 in the morning line so he is worth a play or two.. Good luck!
