Sunday, Kappa Kappa will get tested for stamina as she attempts 1 1/8 miles for the first time in the Grade 3, $200,000 Comely Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Aqueduct, the final graded stakes race of the year on the New York Racing Association circuit.

Liberation’s 2025 season has been geared toward races such as Sunday’s $100,000 Soviet Problem Stakes for California-bred 2-year-old fillies at a mile at Los Alamitos.

Gone, for the time being, are sprints, replaced by a first start around two turns.

“This is much better for her,” trainer John Sadler said Friday. “We’ve been in these other races because of the Cal-bred program. We think long will be good for her.”

Mindframe takes over coveted first stall at Claiborne

Mindframe was a Grade 1 winner around both one and two turns in 2025. He is one of two Grade 1 winners retiring to historic Claiborne Farm for the upcoming season.

Bloodstock professional Jacob West has had confidence in Mindframe throughout the horse’s life, first as a racing prospect and now as a stallion prospect.

“He’s never given us any reason not to have confidence,” he said.

West wears multiple hats in the Thoroughbred industry. As a bloodstock agent, he represents prominent clients, including owner Mike Repole, at various sales. As the stallion seasons and bloodstock manager for historic Claiborne Farm in Paris, Ky., a role he was named to in 2024, he promotes the farm’s roster and scouts incoming talent.
