On a relatively quiet Thursday, low-profile trainer Javier Sierra served up a lesson related to workouts. Rather, it was a lack of workouts.
The theme for Friday’s opening day at Keeneland is rain, and a lot of it. The skies unloaded in Lexington yesterday and today, resulting in the three scheduled turf races being moved to the Polytrack.
After a very live rail produced several front-end longshots and a pick six carryover Wednesday, the main track appeared fair through Thursday’s nine races, all of which were run around one turn.

Although Saturday's Kentucky Derby preps are intriguing contests, from a wagering perspective, I’m most excited by a trio of races for 3-year-old fillies this Saturday: the Ashland at Keeneland, the Santa Anita Oaks, and the Fantasy at Oaklawn.

In the Bay Shore Stakes at Aqueduct, I like Favorite Tale, who is perfect so far after three starts at Parx Racing, despite the big bump in class, and the fact that he is making his stakes debut.
