The biggest issue on Wednesday, particularly for pace handicappers going forward, was a stiff headwind on the second half of the backstretch and into the far turn that slowed early fractions considerably.
Thursday’s feature will be the Grade 3 Bewitch on grass, which attracted many of this winter’s best female turf stayers, as well as the comebacking Romantica, whose last race was a second to Dank in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf at 1 1/4 miles at Santa Anita Nov. 2.
At some tracks on Wednesdays, there can seem that as many horsemen as fans are in attendance. But never at Keeneland, where racing remains immensely popular and where 12,164 people attended Wednesday’s eight-race card.

Trainer Bob Tiller heated up with three tallies on the card, most notably with the allowance winners Be Mind Phil and The Imposter. It escalated him into a tie for second in the standings, a position he maintained throughout the 2013 meet.
