It will be her first start since finishing first by 1 1/4 lengths in an optional claimer June 6 at Monmouth Park. Although not long on quality – no surprise there, what with the stakes-loaded Stars and Stripes Festival happening just two weeks ago and Saratoga opening next week – the final Saturday card of the Belmont Park spring-summer meet does have a few races I found interesting. So, I’ll center my pari-mutuel day, at least in terms of Belmont, around them.

The pick four at Del Mar on Friday begins with a wide-open event in Race 5 but closes with a horse who looks like a standout in Race 8. I am going to build a ticket around (2) URLOVENEVERFAILS. The 3-year-old filly just missed when she debuted in a California-bred maiden special weight race at Santa Anita on June 19, and she figures to take a big step forward with a race behind her.
Goldfeder: How I'd play Del Mar for Friday, July 17
When Indiana Grand runs its six-stakes card Saturday evening, it will be the Grade 2 Indiana Derby that grabs the focus of the fans, having drawn well-known 3-year-olds such as Mr. Z, Divining Rod, and Far Right – each of whom competed in at least one Triple Crown race this year. But the focus of my betting is on another race, the ungraded Michael G. Schaefer Memorial Stakes, where Ulanbator seems a standout.
Unlike others in the Delaware Handicap on Satureday, the stretch-out to 1 1/4 miles will suit Rosalind nicely.
