Race 7 The horse to beat in this maiden special weight race for 3-year-old fillies on turf is Akron Gold (#3). She has run well in both of her starts while coming up short at the end, and this field may have a tough time beating her. One course of action in Saturday's Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds is to side with a horse who was compromised by the bias in the Risen Star, and that's what I'm doing. Tom's Ready, who finished seventh, is one such horse. But I'm going back – again – to Uncle Walter.

The Dubai World Cup obviously is hard to analyze from a Beyer perspective because just half the field has raced in the U.S. I have to believe that if California Chrome runs to his best Beyers, the 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner is going to be very difficult to beat.
