This might be the toughest race on the card. You could make a case for any number of horses, and it’s very difficult to find the center of this field. El Talento (#1) will probably go favored off two strong local performances, but this is the toughest field he’s ever met. Furthermore, he’s likely to face pace pressure from Mineralogy and his stablemate Diamond Jim.

Hong Kong selections for Sunday, July 16
The likely favorite is Spring Folly (#9), who broke her maiden at second asking for trainer Michael Dickinson. While she’s done nothing wrong in her two career, starts, she was facing a pretty weak group last time. Out of Nowhere, the runner-up was the only horse in that race that did any running behind the winner, and she’s a longtime maiden. Spring Folly may have a bright future, but this is a significant jump in class.
The ninth race on Saturday's Delaware Park card is, of course, the centerpiece of the meet, the Grade 1 Delaware Handicap, but with prohibitive favorite Songbird seemingly unbeatable, I'll look elsewhere on the program for value. I landed on a midcard pick three covering races 6-8.

Sunday is closing day at Belmont Park, as everyone gears up for the 2017 Saratoga meet. The featured event on closing day is the $100,000 Lynbrook for 2-year-old fillies, and there’s an interesting entrant that could offer some value on the win end. She’ll be my only play.
