BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, July 22, 2017, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

webmaster|Jul 21, 2017

Where do we start? How about a very good lesson in “How to Fry Your Mount,” which was exactly what happened with our 2-year-old Pick last week as Beyond Ambition blew the doors off the gate and flew to a speed fueled lead, only to stop on a dime at the eighth pole to finish fourth. Meanwhile, our “gimmick play,” and race favorite Cause We Are Loyal, saved the day at $5.40. Then, in a truly bizarre race, our 3-year-old Pick, Kai Nalu, gave them fits before she loaded and the horse in the next stall refused to break, causing our horse to stop and then go, trailing the field by many lengths until she started to finally roll to miss by a neck and nose for second. Tab her back at seven furlongs to a mile, if they can straighten her out. Eight 3-year-old BreezeFigs maidens won last week at Belmont (two), Belterra, Delaware, Del Mar (BreezeFigs exacta), Los Alamitos, Parx and Penn National. Seven 2-year-olds broke their maidens at Del Mar (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Ellis (BreezeFigs exacta), Laurel, Los Alamitos (two) and Presque Isle. In addition, winners of both stakes for 2-year-old at Belmont Park were BreezeFigs horses in their second starts, right there on our card. Saturday's cards are a complete challenge but we have found a race on each card where there may be a chance to make a buck, see below. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here are Saturday’s Pix:

3-year-olds:

Parx Racing, 2nd Race, Maiden Claiming ($20,000), 5 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)

After they purchased him for $50k at EASMAY the owners changed his name from O Themistocles to Unpredictable, which may be a hint about his attitude. Absent our knowledge of that this colt posted a one-under-Par Group 3 number at that sale with a 26.25 foot stride length (SL) which was more a than a foot and three-quarters longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. Dropping him in for 20k may be another warning flag, but he could be a gimmick saver.

2-year-olds:

Del Mar, 7th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Dirt)

There are six BreezeFigs maidens in here, all first-timers, and every single one of them had an issue beyond their reasonable BreezeFigs profiles to cause us to wrinkle our noses—mostly their way of going in slow motion video. So, we are going to toss a dart or two here and suggest Gracida and Wild Verse may be the ones to key. Gracida posted a two-over-Par Group 2 ticket with a 25.49 foot SL at FTFMAR, which was more than a foot and three-quarters longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. No doubt they will pounce all over Wild Verse based on his 11-over-Par Group 1 performance at OBSAPR where his 25.48 foot SL was not only basically the same to Gracida’s but just under a foot and three-quarters longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. Bahamian, Makeppcgreatagain, He’s Like Violence and So Long Sailor all have basically the same profile and the board will tell you if you need to throw any of them into your gimmicks. Good luck!
