After getting away slowly, he was rank on the backstretch and then raced in traffic before mounting a mild wide bid in his first turf start in a1 1/16-mile maiden special.

The Maryland shipper trailed a six-horse field early before closing wide from off slow fractions to finish a clear second behind Woodbine’s top sprinter, Pink Lloyd, in the Grade 3 Vigil Stakes. He also adores the turf, on which he could run back in the Grade 2 Play the King here Aug. 19.
