The Breeders' Cup World Championships attract the best Thoroughbred horses worldwide to compete in Grade 1 races for both males and females at a variety of distances on both turf and dirt. The 2024 Breeders' Cup will be held at Del Mar in California. The two-day event will be held Nov. 1 and 2.

The second is through a system that allows horses to earn points based on their performance in major races throughout the year. The third way to be selected is to be chosen by a panel of experts. There are a maximum of 14 horses in each Breeders' Cup race, except the Dirt Mile and Juvenile Turf Sprint, which are limited to 12 starters.
