GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - Tap Dancing Mauk left the graded stakes company of Florida for Saturday's $100,000 Bosselman/Gus Fonner Stakes at Fonner Park and scored his first win of the year, a one-length score under R.D. Williams.

Wiggins romps in Milwaukee Avenue repeat

STICKNEY, Ill. - Wiggins is 7 and has raced since the summer of his 2-year-old season, but he may never have run better than he did on Saturday at Hawthorne, winning the $102,375 Milwaukee Avenue Handicap by 10 1/4 lengths.

"I just kept him close to the pace, and he did the rest," said jockey Jerry LaSala, who rode Wiggins for the first time. "He's really classy."

Wiggins, owned by William Pacella and Joe Rizza, won last year's Milwaukee Avenue by four lengths, but this was a more powerful performance.

Dreaming of Anna on for Oaks

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Funny how things can change in this game. One month trainer Wayne Catalano was saying Dreaming of Anna wouldn't make the Kentucky Oaks, and the next he was all but saying she's a cinch to win.

All it took was one swift tour of the Churchill Downs oval for such seismic change to occur. Dreaming of Anna, with Shaun Bridgmohan aboard, posted the fastest time of six prospects working toward the Oaks on a busy Saturday morning at Churchill, and afterward, Catalano hardly could contain his enthusiasm.
