DRF Bets GamePlan spot play - Santa Barbara Handicap

Deep closer QUEEN OF THE SAND (#4, 9-2) and front-runner FANTICOLA (#3, 4-1) are the keys in this filly-mare turf G2 at a mile and a quarter. ’Sand was compromised by the slow pace in her return; Fanticola will lead as far as she can.

Hammersly: How I'd play Santa Anita on Sunday, April 19

The traditional early double holds some appeal, and it could help bolster your bankroll for later in the day.

Peck: Pick four play for Keeneland on Sunday, April 19

Interesting late pick four Sunday at Keeneland:

Race 6

Expecting REVEREND GREEN to come out running for Tom Proctor, as his works strongly hint at ability. The other "A" for me is SYLVEN PARK, who was a solid second in his bow, albeit on grass. Lesser tickets will include MORNING BUZZ, who makes his first start as a gelding; STREET MOXIE, a firster from Joe Sharp; and ALLIDOISDREAMOFYOU, who gets Lasix for the first time.

Bernier: How I'd play Santa Anita on Saturday, April 18

After being underwhelmed by Santa Anita’s featured event Saturday, the Santa Barbara, I was hoping (and expecting) to find other enticing wagering opportunities. Having gone through the entire nine-race card, I can confidently say I truly only find one race MILDLY interesting from a wagering standpoint. Accordingly, I’ll look to play that race individually – as well as hook it up as the second half of a daily double with the aforementioned Santa Barbara.

Illman: Pick three play for Keeneland on Saturday, April 18

Keeneland’s Saturday card is a solid one. It features some long-distance turf performers in the Grade 2 Elkhorn Stakes as well as the 3-year-old debut of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Hootenanny.

Let’s play a small pick three:

Race 6

Multiple graded stakes winner Delaunay (5) seems to have a speed figure and class edge on this field. After two wins at Fair Grounds to kick off his winter campaign, Delaunay gave a good effort when second to the streaking Bet Seattle in the Duncan F. Kenner Stakes on Feb. 21.

Positive ROI report: D'Amato strong off a win

Papacoolpapacool (#2, ML 9-5) has won his last two starts heading into Saturday's fourth race at Santa Anita, the 1 1/8-mile turf La Puente Stakes. Since Jan. 1, 2014, trainer Philip D'Amato is winning at a 32 percent clip when saddling a horse coming off a win, for a return on investment of $3.96.

Key Race report: Little Miss Julia returns in optional claimer

Little Miss Julia (#6, ML 6-1) will return to action in Saturday's ninth race at Gulfstream Park, a six-furlong optional claimer. It will be her first start since a second-place finish by 2 3/4 lengths in a six-furlong race Feb. 20 at Gulfstream Park. The first-, fourth-, and fifth-place finishers from that optional claimer came back to win their next starts.

Hammersly: Santa Anita pick three for Saturday, April 18

A key horse in the Grade 3 Santa Barbara (race 7) gives the pick three involving races 6-8 some appeal. The mare gives us a chance to take a stand and doesn’t figure to be too short a price to boot.
