Albarado pleads not guilty

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Robby Albarado pleaded not guilty to all charges in the domestic violence case involving his wife, Kimber, when the highly decorated jockey appeared at his arraignment Tuesday in Jefferson District Court here. A hearing for April 22 was set in the case.

Monmouth bidding attracts three

Three bidders, including longtime New Jersey horse owner Morris Bailey, have met a deadline to submit proposals to lease Monmouth Park from the state for the next five years, according to New Jersey officials.

The bids were due March 31. In addition to Bailey, the other parties responding to the state’s request for proposals were John Brunetti, the owner of Hialeah Park in Florida and a native of New Jersey, and the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, according to several officials who confirmed an account in the Star-Ledger this weekend.

Albarado released from jail, to be arraigned Tuesday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Jockey Robby Albarado was released on his own recognizance from the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on Friday afternoon after being arrested on charges of domestic violence against his wife, Kimber, on Thursday night, according to Louisville Police.

Albarado is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning. His wife took out an emergency protective order against him Friday.

Keeneland: Ashland first of four Grade 1 events at spring meet

The charter planes and horse vans have been descending in recent days on Lexington, Ky., where on Friday a rite of spring will get under way when Keeneland begins a 15-day meet that will showcase many of the best horses and horsemen in North America.

“We’ve got about 800 horses on the grounds right now, and there’s more to come,” said Keeneland racing secretary Ben Huffman. “It’s going to be another exciting meet.”
