LEXINGTON, Ky. – Led by Breeders’ Cup Challenge Win and You’re In race winners Catch a Glimpse and Harmonize, a field of 14, plus an also-eligible, were drawn Monday afternoon for the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Keeneland on Friday.

The speedy Catch a Glimpse, a five-length winner of the Grade 2 Natalma at Woodbine on Sept. 12, drew well in post 4, with just a furlong run to the first of two turns in the one-mile turf race for 2-year-old fillies.

Firm turf looking unlikely for Breeders' Cup

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Likely favorite Cavorting was assigned the far outside post in a full gate of 14 when entries were drawn Monday at Keeneland for the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint.

Cavorting will be coming off victories in the Grade 1 Test and Grade 2 Prioress when trying to buck history for Stonestreet Stables and trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. Irad Ortiz Jr. will be back aboard for the seven-furlong Filly and Mare Sprint, which goes as the fifth of 12 Saturday races (post time, 1:25 p.m. Eastern).

Smooth Roller taking it easy in run-up to Breeders’ Cup Classic

LEXINGTON, Ky. – As fast as Smooth Roller got to the Breeders’ Cup Classic, he’s taking the slow route there this week.

Smooth Roller has made just four starts, all since June, and in that time went from being an unraced maiden to the winner of the Grade 1 Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita last time out. That victory that gave him a fees-paid berth in the $5 million Classic on Saturday.

ELMONT, N.Y. – Like most natives of Lexington, Ky., trainer Kiaran McLaughlin is happy to see that after more than three decades, the Breeders’ Cup has finally come to this city’s historic racetrack, Keeneland.

McLaughlin’s six siblings, their spouses, and his mother will be in attendance for the two-day event Friday and Saturday. But what really has McLaughlin jazzed about the 32nd Breeders’ Cup is the four-horse contingent he is bringing, all of whom have a reasonable chance to win their respective races.

Sticksstatelydude to miss Breeders’ Cup Juvenile

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sticksstatelydude was withheld from Saturday’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile due to a tendon strain in his right foreleg, trainer and co-owner Greg Burchell said Monday, hours before entries were due.

“It’s not bad, but it’s something that could be a problem if I go ahead with him,” Burchell said. “We’ll go ahead and shoot for his 3-year-old year.”
