Big Time Boss cuts back under leading stakes rider Hernandez in Clarendon

Michael Burns
Reload Raleigh has "really matured a lot," said trainer Barbara Minshall.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Big Time Boss is dropping out of open stakes company with money rider Rafael Hernandez aboard to contest Sunday’s $150,000 Clarendon Stakes, a six-furlong test for Ontario-sired and Ontario-bred 2-year-olds.

Trained by Josie Carroll for Di Scola Boys Stable, Big Time Boss has raced twice with Hernandez aboard both times. The homebred overcame a tardy start to land his six-furlong debut with a 67 Beyer Speed Figure after dueling through soft fractions.

Barbadian Runner not sneaking up on anyone in Richard W. Small Stakes

Equi-Photo
Barbadian Runner has won five stakes this year, including the Maryland Million Classic, where he defeated Post Time.

In five stakes victories this year, the 3-year-old gelding Barbadian Runner has never been favored, often going overlooked by bettors while stepping up in class. Now an undisputed heavyweight, he is the 6-5 morning-line favorite in a modest field of six in the $100,000 Richard W. Small Stakes at Laurel Park on Saturday.

Doc Sullivan has edge over Bank Frenzy to even score in Thunder Rumble

Barbara D. Livingston
Doc Sullivan will try to even the series with Bank Frenzy in Saturday's Thunder Rumble at Aqueduct.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Bank Frenzy currently leads Doc Sullivan 2 to 1 in their head-to-head meetings dating back to last December. But when the two meet again in Saturday’s $125,000 Thunder Rumble division of the New York Stallion Series, the edge may belong to Doc Sullivan.

The seven-furlong distance of the Thunder Rumble is a distance at which Doc Sullivan has won twice and at which Bank Frenzy is winless. In fact, Doc Sullivan is a two-time stakes winner at seven furlongs, having won the John Morrissey at Saratoga in July and the Mike Lee, also at Saratoga, in June 2024.
