The upward trajectory of prices in the North American yearling market has continued through the early sales of 2015, giving consignors reason for optimism heading into the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. August yearling sale. The three-day auction will be held Tuesday through Thursday, beginning each day at 11 a.m. Eastern. A select session of 217 yearlings will kick off the sale Tuesday, followed by a pair of open sessions.
Following are some of the horses to watch in the selected portion of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. August yearling sale based on their pedigrees and the past auction performance of notable family members. A California-bred colt by Harlan’s Holiday and a Kentucky-bred filly by Tapizar each sold for $90,000 at Saturday’s Barretts Select Yearling Sale at Del Mar, the leading hips at the first summertime sale of yearlings in Southern California in 11 years.
