A year after posting record figures in gross and average, the 2015 Minnesota Thoroughbred Association yearling and mixed sale took a step backward on Monday.
The catalog for the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Alberta Division) Alberta Thoroughbred sale is now available online, with 114 yearlings, broodmares, weanlings and horses in training on offer.
The 2015 Washington Thoroughbreds Breeders and Owners Association concluded a positive renewal on Tuesday, improving its gross and average sale prices from last year while posting a negligible drop in median.
A colt from the first crop of Country Day brought $27,500 on Sunday to top the Oklahoma City summer yearling sale put on by Carter Sales Co. The auction also included two horses of racing age, with one selling, a Smoke Glacken filly who brought $20,000.
The rapidly-growing demand for quality New York-breds was made even clearer by the top-priced offerings at the Fasig-Tipton New York-bred yearling sale. According to available Fasig-Tipton records, this year’s renewal posted record gross and average sale price and tied the high median.
A California-bred colt by Harlan’s Holiday and a Kentucky-bred filly by Tapizar each sold for $90,000 at Saturday’s Barretts Select Yearling Sale at Del Mar, the leading hips at the first summertime sale of yearlings in Southern California in 11 years.

The first night of the Fasig-Tipton New York-bred yearling sale displayed a growing demand for high-level prospects in the state-bred program, but a potentially less forgiving marketplace for those in the lower tiers.
Carter Sales Co. will put on its annual summer yearling auction Sunday in Oklahoma City, and officials anticipate the sale could be the strongest in the seven-year history of the auction inaugurated in 2009.
