Trip notes by Michael Hammersly for stakes races run on September 23-24, including the Pennsylvania Derby and Cotillion.
Here’s my handicapping analysis and wagering strategy for the late $100,000-guaranteed pick four on Sunday at Remington Park, a sequence that includes all stakes, including the meet’s highlight, the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby.
The two obvious horses who are going to take money are Im the Captain Now (#6) and Peace Speaker (#12). The former has run well in his recent starts at or around this distance, but he’s starting to run out of chances, and the latter must prove he can negotiate 10 furlongs after two strong runs going shorter.

Gauguin (#3) has run the fastest races and obviously handles this distance. He's a deserving favorite here, but nothing about him really excites me.
Selections for Sunday's card at Sha Tin.
Saturday’s card at Belmont Park features two graded stakes races, the Grade 3 Nobel Damsel and the Grade 2 Kelso. The Nobel Damsel is carded as the third race on a 10-race program, and I’ll look to close out the early pick three with a single in there.
A sharp Southern California raider may prove to be your linchpin in the first leg of Sunday’s pick four (races 6-9) at Oak Tree at Pleasanton. If she can do the expected (likely at a short price, unfortunately), spreading in the second leg, a very tough distaff sprint, may help you snag a price.
