Having watched Cozze Up Lady compete at a high level this spring in Kentucky, both on Polytrack and turf, she may have the potential to become a graded-stakes-caliber filly and is my pick in the Chicago Handicap at Arlington.

Ask a group of horseplayers to name two factors deemed least important in handicapping a race, and there would be a wide variety of answers – everything ranging from connections to class, speed figures, and pace. As for me, I’d say track bias and ground loss.

Private Tale fits the bill as a horse who can successfully cutback in distance and is the pick in the Donald LeVine Memorial Handicap at Parx Racing.

Goldencents and Vyjack did not fire in their first races since a fast Kentucky Derby pace blew up anything close to it and set it up for a group of horses who have not win since the Derby. But I do have both on my watch list. They deserve another chance.
