About Lone Star Park

Grand Prairie, Texas

Established in 1997, Lone Star Park quickly emerged as a popular and prominent venue for horse racing in Texas. Founded by the late horseman and innovator Steve Sexton, Lone Star Park was envisioned as a hub for showcasing top-tier horse racing talent and building community among racing aficionados. Lone Star currently operates both a Thoroughbred meet and a Quarter Horse meet.

Located in Grand Prairie, Texas, Lone Star Park hosts multiple events throughout the racing calendar, including Lone Star Million Day and Stars of Texas Day.  In 2004, Lone Star was the site of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Among the track’s top Thoroughbred stakes races are the Steve Sexton Mile, Texas Derby, and Texas Turf Classic.
