McCarron flew cross-country to ride Starrer in the $350,000 Coaching Club, but was unseated three jumps out of the gate as Starrer, the 4-5 favorite, took a bad step and stumbled. She threw McCarron head over heels and kicked McCarron in the left buttock, leaving just a bruise.

Trainer Bill Spawr wanted a late-June or early-July start in an allowance race for Kitty on the Track, but was forced into the A Gleam when no other races filled. She nearly won her first start in 18 months, losing by a half-length to Go Go, the top female sprinter in California this year.

ELMONT, N.Y. - Norberto Arroyo Jr., the winningest rider in New York in 2000, was arrested Friday night in the Bronx along with his father and younger brother. All three were charged with assault in the second degree and were to be arraigned Saturday night, police said.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - Jockey Mark Guidry, a two-time leading rider at Arlington and currently atop the jockey standings, is leaving Monday to ride the Saratoga meet, which begins Wednesday.
Guidry's agent, Ronnie Ebanks, said Guidry has three calls at Saratoga Wednesday and he expects Guidry to be more active beginning Thursday.
Ebanks, who became Guidry's agent in May when Guidry parted ways with longtime agent Dennis Cooper, said despite his rider's leading position at Arlington, he has struggled to attract business.
