Megahertz takes American Oaks

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - The first running of the $500,000 American Oaks at Hollywood Park on Saturday was decided in the steward's room.

Megahertz, who finished second, was promoted to first after Dublino was ruled to have caused interference in the stretch.

Replays showed that Dublino, ridden by Kent Desormeaux, drifted out in the stretch and into the path of Megahertz, who was ridden by Alex Solis.

Megahertz finished a half-length behind Dublino.

"It's just too bad I didn't straighten her out quick enough," Desormeaux said.
