Sharky's Review wins the $50,000 Wild Rose Stakes.

ALTOONA, Iowa - Iowa-bred champion Sharky's Review parlayed a perfect trip into a three-quarter-length victory over 4-5 favorite Fly Borboleta in the $50,000 Wild Rose Stakes.

The victory was Sharky's Review's 11th in 24 career starts. She is the all-time leading money earner among Iowa-bred fillies and mares.

Lone Star: Cauy outgames Southern Tour

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Cauy outgamed Southern Tour for a nose win in the $50,000 Miller Lite Stakes. It was another two lengths back in third to My Meow, who finished a head in front of 3-5 favorite Full Spectrum.

Cauy ($14.80) sat about a length behind Full Spectrum and Southern Tour, who dueled through the opening quarter of the five-furlong turf race for fillies in mares in 23.25 seconds. Southern Tour shook Full Spectrum in the stretch, but could not hold off Cauy, who covered the distance over soft turf in 59.39 seconds.

Woodbine: Third Day wins via DQ

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - First-time starter Third Day won the $137,750 Victoria Stakes when Gemini Dream was disqualified from first and placed sixth for interference.

Gemini Dream went straight to the front from the outside in the five-furlong dash for 2-year-olds. Favored Stormthebarricade stalked the pace along the rail, but fell at the three-eighths pole after clipping heels with Gemini Dream, who had been angled in heading into the turn.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Favored Perfect Soul circled into contention on the far turn and then drew off in the final furlong to notch his first stakes Sunday at Woodbine in the $336,600 King Edward Breeders' Cup Handicap.

Perfect Soul raced about five lengths off the lead on the backstretch of the nine-furlong turf event, as Tap the Admiral and Union Placed dueled through moderate fractions over a course rated good. Perfect Soul made a five-wide bid on the turn, and then hit the front nearing the eighth pole en route to a two and a half-length victory.

Restoration goes to Sky Soldier

OCEANPORT, N.J. - Sky Soldier kept exclusive company in his last two races and the class experience paid off Sunday afternoon with a victory in the $50,000 Restoration Stakes at Monmouth Park.

Sky Soldier steadied in the first turn of the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct and finished well behind Empire Maker and Funny Cide. He raced wide in his most recent effort, a fourth-place finish behind Best Minister in the Sir Barton Stakes on the Preakness under card.

There were no class masters in the Restoration, a one-mile race for 3-year-olds originally scheduled for the turf.

Handyman Bill wins Bay Meadows finale

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Handyman Bill ($20.80) avenged a loss as the odds-on favorite in an allowance race with a strong effort to win the $65,800 Foster City Handicap at Bay Meadows on closing day Sunday.

Handyman Bill stalked the pace of Metatron, took over into the lane and held off a late challenge by Ninebanks to win the 1 1/16-mile turf race by three-quarters of a length. Odds-on favorite Night Life was third another one-half length back. The winning time was 1:42.74.

AUBURN, Wash. - Turban overcame a wide trip to run down a loose-on-the lead I'madrifter en route to a 1 1-4 length victory in Sunday's one mile, $75,000 Budweiser Emerald Handicap at Emerald Downs. Turban got the distance in 1:34.60 despite racing wide throughout under Gallyn Mitchell after breaking from the outside post in a field of eight.

Alfurune came from last place to get second by a neck over I'madrifter and Moonlight Meeting, who dead-heated for third.

Unbeaten Taiaslew wins Alberta Derby

CALGARY, Alberta - Taiaslew remained unbeaten in seven starts in this province by posting a 7 1/2-length victory over West Coast invader Gamblin Caper here in last Saturday's Grade 3, $100,000 Alberta Derby.

A Washington-bred, Taiaslew competed a sweep of the three sophomore stakes at this meeting to increase his career bankroll to $240,316 for owners Shelli Tracy and Stan Ryan.

His only loss came at the hands of Illusive Force, who presently is in Toronto prepping for the Queen's Plate, at Hastings last October.

Kudos best in Californian

Kudos with Alex Solis up wins the Californian Stakes on Saturday at Hollywood Park.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Kudos is on schedule for the $750,000 Hollywood Gold Cup after ending a three-race losing streak in Saturday's $400,000 Californian Stakes at Hollywood Park.

His last to first rally in the final three furlongs in the Grade 2 Californian over 1 1-8 miles was described by trainer Richard Mandella as an ideal prep for the Gold Cup, run over 1 1-4 miles on July 13.

"He's as good as he can be," Mandella said. "I think the mile and a quarter will add more because he prefers that."
