Adreamisborn triumphs in Tanforan Handicap

ALBANY, Calif. - Adreamisborn ($4), far off the slow pace set by entrymate Shadow Raider, rallied strongly in the stretch to win the $100,000 Tanforan Handicap at Golden Gate Fields on Saturday.

The 6-year-old gelding was last through the opening mile as he got a ground-saving trip. He swung out for room entering the lane and mowed down his rivals to win going away as he defeated Noble Masterpiece by one length in 2:17.77 for the 1 3/8-mile turf race.

Noble Masterpiece made a strong move, getting first run, but he couldn't hold off Adreamisborn.

Within Reason wins Sunny Slope

ARCADIA, Calif. - Within Reason won his stakes debut in Saturday's $81,675 Sunny Slope Stakes for 2-year-old sprinters at Santa Anita, holding off a stubborn pacesetter in Bengal Lore.

Ridden by Martin Pedroza, Within Reason ($5) stalked Bengal Lore to early stretch, drew alongside that colt with a furlong remaining and fought to the wire to win by a nose. Within Reason finished six furlongs in 1:09.19. Say Tomorrow finished third, 5 1-2 lengths behind Within Reason.

The Thought Occurs, who finished fourth, suffered an ankle injury while galloping out and was vanned off.

McDynamo wins third BC 'Chase

FAR HILLS, N.J. - Sanna Hendriks never lost faith in McDynamo, even when the line of doubters grew long and deep. Many felt that the 8-year-old gelding, mired in a five-race losing streak, had lost a step.

On a dreary, rainy day at Far Hills Races, McDynamo redeemed himself and justified his trainer's confidence with a resounding nine-length victory for a record third straight triumph in the Grade 1, $200,000 .

Spite the Devil beats the odds

Spite the Devil wins the $250,000 Empire Classic by one length over Organizer at Belmont Park on Saturday.

ELMONT, N.Y. - The old-school training methods of Hall of Famer Allen Jerkens worked again Saturday as Spite the Devil, coming off a 133-day layoff, rallied down the center of the sloppy Belmont main track under Javier Castellano to win the $250,000 by one length over Organizer. It was 1 1/4 lengths back to Carminooch in third.

Mohawk: Surface switch helps 'Beck'

Win With Beck would have been among the outsiders had the $150,000 gone as scheduled on the turf. But when early-morning rain moved the 1 1/8-mile Mohawk to the main track, Win With Beck suddenly became the 8-5 favorite, and he proved more than up to the task when rallying to an easy six-length victory over his uncoupled stablemate, Continental Reins.

Ticonderoga: Rahy's Appeal romps

Rahy's Appeal took command on the far turn and drew clear for an 8 1/2-length victory in the $150,000 , a 1 1/8-mile race for older fillies and mares.

The Ticonderoga was scheduled for the turf, but was moved to the main track because of rain. Sixteen were entered, but only 10 would have been permitted to start on turf. Nine ended up competing on the sloppy main track.

The Lamp Is Lit was second, 6 3/4 lengths in front of third-place Sweeping Glance, the favorite.

Sleepy Hollow: Sharp Humor hangs on

Sharp Humor turned back several challenges during a prolonged stretch drive and held on to win the $100,000 by a half-length over favored Parkhimonbroadway. Classic Pack was another length back in third.

The Sleepy Hollow is for 2-year-olds going one mile. Sharp Humor was on or near the lead throughout. He grabbed the lead after a half-mile, disposed of pacesetter Classic Park, then held off Parkhimonbroadway while braving a stiff headwind.

Iroquois: Seeking the Ante prevails

Despite struggling with the wet racetrack early on, Seeking the Ante's class prevailed as the graded stakes winner rallied four wide and ran past Travelator and Slew Motion inside the final furlong to win the $125,000 by 3 1/2 lengths.

Travelator, who likely ran the final race of her career, finished second, 2 1/4 lengths ahead of longshot Star Celebrity.

Mike Luzzi rode Seeking the Ante, filling in for Richard Migliore, who broke his left leg in a paddock accident on Thursday.

Maid of the Mist: 'Cinderella' scores

Favored Cinderella's Dream ($3.40) survived being part of a strong early pace to outlast Zippy Missy and Little Miss Zip and win the $100,000 by three-quarters of a length. Zippy Missy nosed out Little Miss Zip for second.

Cinderella's Dream, ridden by John Velazquez, hooked up with early pacesetter Little Miss Zip after a half-mile in 45.95 seconds. Cinderella's Dream gradually edged away from Little Miss Zip while holding off a late run from Zippy Missy.
