So far so good for London Snow

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Trainer John Charalambous ended a 10-year stakes drought when Summer Girlfriend captured the Star Shoot on April 30 here at Woodbine.

Now, less than four weeks later, Charalambous has a shot at his second straight stakes victory when he sends out London Snow in Saturday's $125,000 Lady Angela, a seven-furlong race for Ontario-sired 3-year-old fillies.

Owned by Fred Martin, London Snow was victorious in her career debut at 2, winning at five furlongs here July 1.

'Bermuda' wins meet's first quarter-miler

FORT ERIE, Ontario - Bermuda Triangle has started off where he left off last year at Fort Erie.

On Tuesday, in a field of 10, Bermuda Triangle led every step of the way to win the first quarter-mile race of the year.

Bermuda Triangle won the last two-furlong race of 2005 on Oct. 18. That was Bermuda Triangle's first win at the meet in seven starts, but he had four seconds. All were at two furlongs.

Quiet Cash and Hoverson on a nice run

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Chad Hoverson, who rode Quiet Cash ($4.90) to a narrow win over Bull Ranch in the $50,000 John Longden at Hastings on Monday, had some nervous moments during the running of race. Hoverson had Quiet Cash down on the rail for the first six furlongs of the 1 1/16-mile race, and for a while he was very concerned that he was going to get stuck there with a horse full of run and nowhere to go. Luckily for Hoverson, Roscoe Pito, who had been dogging Bull Ranch the whole way, dropped back at the quarter pole and Quiet Cash had the opening he needed.

Pick six returns $50,526.60

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - The pick six at Hollywood Park returned $50,526.60 on Wednesday, a program that began with a two-day carryover.

The winners of the pick six races were Blind Harry ($7), Swiss Arrow ($6.60), Ellwood and Jake ($24.20), Rude Behavior ($8), Andover the Cash ($10) and Swiss Rose ($12).

Of those, only Swiss Arrow was favored. Consolation tickets with five of six winners paid $507.60

The program began with a carryover of $616,240. Bettors added $2,439,128 on Wednesday.

Silver Train drills third bullet for Met Mile

ELMONT, N.Y. - Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Silver Train, a beaten favorite in his first two starts of the year, worked five furlongs in a sizzling 58.66 seconds at Aqueduct on Wednesday in preparation for the $600,000 Metropolitan Handicap on Memorial Day.

Silver Train finished seventh at even-money in the Richter Scale Handicap at Gulfstream Park, then shipped back to Aqueduct, where he ran second in an optional claimer at 1-2 after breaking through the gate prior to the start.

Injured Magna Graduate to miss Stephen Foster

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Magna Graduate emerged from a Sunday workout at Churchill Downs with an injured hind ankle and will be sidelined for several months, trainer Todd Pletcher said Wednesday from Belmont Park.

Magna Graduate, winner of the Grade 2 Clark Handicap here last fall, had been pointing to the Grade 1 Stephen Foster Handicap on June 17. The 4-year-old colt, an earner of more than $1.7 million, finished fourth in his most recent start, the $6 million Dubai World Cup on March 25.

Cambiocorsa going long in Wishing Well

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Confirmed as the top female turf sprinter in California this year, Cambiocorsa goes long when she starts in the $62,000 Wishing Well Stakes at Hollywood Park on Friday evening.

The restricted Wishing Well, run at a mile on turf, will be Cambiocorsa's first start around two turns since she finished fifth in a first-condition allowance race for California-breds in June 2005.

Her career has changed remarkably since then.
