Jet Run ($8.20) ran down dueling pacesetters Scary Trip and Run Jickster Run, then held off a late bid by Haddenfield to remain undefeated in the $64,816 Par Four Stakes for 2-year-olds at Delaware Park.

Ridden by Nick Petro for his brother, trainer Mike Petro, Jet Run sat 1 1/2 lengths off the front-runners through a half-mile in 45:97 seconds, moved three wide to challenge for the lead entering the turn, stuck his head in front at the eighth pole, and edged clear late to win by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:12.15 for six furlongs.

Officer Cherrie ($28.20) overhauled 1-5 favorite Dancing Allstar in the final strides to take Saturday's $130,900 Ontario Debutante Stakes at Woodbine.

After stumbling at the break, Poco Uno set the early pace in the six-furlong sprint for 2-year-old fillies. She was overtaken midway on the turn by Dancing Allstar, who opened up a clear lead early in the stretch, after a half in 45.03 seconds.

Zoobstick chased and then ran down the pacesetting Bar Harbor in the final strides to post a neck victory in Saturday's $50,000 American Dreamer Stakes at Calder.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - One week before they attempt to capture Saratoga's top prize for 3-year-old colts, trainer Carl Nafzger and jockey Calvin Borel teamed up to win this meet's most prestigious race for 3-year-old fillies when Lady Joanne won a stirring stretch duel to take Saturday's Grade 1, $600,000 Alabama by a neck over Lear's Princess.

It was 1 1/2 lengths back to Octave in third. Panty Raid, the 2-1 favorite, finished fifth.

OCEANPORT, N.J. - Gottcha Gold has turned into the giant killer this summer at Monmouth Park.

The 4-year-old colt scored his second stakes upset on Saturday with an overpowering 4 1/2-length victory in the Grade 3, $300,000 Philip H. Iselin Stakes.

In late June, Gottcha Gold held off Lawyer Ron in the Grade 3 Salvator Mile by a neck at 10-1. The Salvator, in hindsight, became even more impressive when Lawyer Ron returned to win the Grade 1 Whitney Handicap at Saratoga.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Ken McPeek knows Loose Leaf will have to "run the race of his life" to be competitive against the likes of Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense in Saturday's $1 million Travers Stakes.

But there are some things playing in Loose Leaf's favor entering the 138th running of the Midsummer Derby at Saratoga. Loose Leaf is an improving 3-year-old with a win over Saratoga's main track and will be ridden by one of the hottest riders on the grounds, Kent Desormeaux.

MIAMI - It will be the old men against the young whippersnappers when 9-year-old veterans Eternal Look and Tour of the Cat face four rivals, including a pair of 3-year-olds, in Monday's $28,000 main event at Calder.

Eternal Look and Tour of the Cat will receive some much needed class relief in the 6 1/2-furlong optional claiming dash with each entered for $25,000 price tags. The pair met last month in a much tougher allowance race, with Eternal Look finishing a game third behind Champagne Account and Wild Nature. Tour of the Cat finished a well-beaten and tiring fourth.

DEL MAR, Calif. - A jockey knows he has arrived at the top of the sport when he has to chose between mounts for major stakes. Such dilemmas are becoming more commonplace for Michael Baze, the leading rider at the Del Mar meeting.

Baze chose Sun Boat over Big Booster for the $1 million Pacific Classic and has picked the maiden winner Drill Down over the two-time graded stakes winner Salute the Sarge for the $250,000 Del Mar Futurity on Sept. 5, closing day of the meeting.

Lady Blue Sky won her 10th straight race Friday night at Remington Park. The victory was her eight of the year and ties her with Princess Composer as the horse with the most victories in the country this year.

Lady Blue Sky her streak last October in the Richmond Stakes at Hoosier Park. Since then, she has won a second stakes as well as a mix of starter races and optional claimers, mostly in the Midwest.

On Friday night, Lady Blue Sky won a $5,000 starter by a length under Luis Quinonez. Lady Blue Sky is a 5-year-old Indiana-bred mare.

Trainer Bill Mott continued his meet-long success by winning three races on Friday's card at Saratoga, including the Grade 2, $150,000 Lake Placid Stakes when Sharp Susan went gate to wire to win by 1 1/2 lengths.

New Edition rallied to get second by three-quarters of a length over the 2-1 favorite, Lady Attack.

Kent Desormeaux rode Sharp Susan ($7.30) and Mott's two other winners - Prussian ($5.90) and Stormy West ($21.20) - giving him 23 for the meet, four behind Cornelio Velasquez. Mott has 16 wins, seven more than Todd Pletcher and Richard Dutrow Jr.
