O'Riain takes Freshman by six lengths

O'Riain made it two stakes in a row in the $50,000 Freshman at Beulah Park on Saturday. Jockey Victor Urieta-Moran rode almost exactly the same race as he had aboard O'Riain in the Best of Ohio Juvenile, getting the lead early, only to allow the 2-year-old to relax on the backstretch, then rallying on the far turn and drawing off in the stretch. The margin over victory was an impressive six lengths, and the running time for the one-mile Freshman was 1.42.05.

Coco Belle cruises in Miss Woodford

OCEANPORT, N.J. - It would be fair to say that the early pace in the $200,000 Miss Woodford Stakes was snappy. It might even be fair to say that the early pace in the Miss Woodford was insane. But even after knocking out an opening quarter-mile in a mind-bending 20.97 seconds and whistling through a half-mile in 43.36, Coco Belle had no trouble holding off all comers in the stretch of the six-furlong race.

Royal Hudson a well-bred longshot

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Anyone looking for a longshot to win the $100,000 Ascot Graduation at Hastings might want to consider Royal Hudson.

Trained by Dave Forster, Royal Hudson is coming off a win in a six-furlong maiden special weight race Sept. 30 where he made up 13 lengths in the last quarter-mile. His final time of 1:13.70 isn't anything to get excited about, and he would need to improve to beat the likes of Jack Diamond Futurity Desert Alf and three-time stakes winner Star Prospector.

Margo's Gift fits right in

Margo's Gift had never traveled outside of Emerald Downs, but on his first visit to Monmouth Park, he must have felt right at home. The weather Friday resembled the stereotypical day in Washington state, with persistent rain and a sloppy track.

Margo's Gift thrived in the conditions. Margo's Gift, the second-longest shot in the field of 10, closed quickly along the rail in the stretch, rallying from eighth to first in the final quarter-mile, and captured the $250,000 Favorite Trick Breeders' Cup Stakes for 2-year-olds.
