Cho thinking big with Premier Pegasus

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Premier Pegasus may be bound for the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Churchill Downs on Nov. 6 after winning Saturday’s $59,800 Jack Goodman Stakes at Hollywood Park.

Myung Kwon Cho, who bred, owns and trains Premier Pegasus, said in the winner’s circle that he will consider a pre-entry when such nominations are due on Monday. “I’m considering it now,” Cho said.

You Go West Girl rallies late to repeat in Ticonderoga

ELMONT, N.Y. - You Go West Girl saved her best for last, unleashing a powerful stretch kick under Jose Lezcano that brought her from 10th to first in Saturday’s $125,000 Ticonderoga Stakes for New York-bred fillies and mares at Belmont Park.

In recording a repeat victory in the Ticonderoga, You Go West Girl beat Chorus Music by two lengths, spoiling what could have been a perfect day for trainer John Terranova, who won the first three races on Saturday’s 10-race program. It was a half-length back to Exclusive Scheme in third.

Friend or Foe proves his class in Empire Classic

ELMONT, N.Y. - The Friend or Foe trainer John Kimmel had hoped to see perform in the marquee 3-year-old races at Saratoga finally revealed himself in Saturday’s marquee event on New York Showcase Day at Belmont Park.

ELMONT, N.Y. - Pocket Cowboys, who had been knocking on the door in stakes lately, received a perfect stalking trip beneath Edgar Prado to win Saturday's $125,000 Mohawk Stakes.

Coming off runner-up finishes in the West Point and Ashley T. Cole for breeder-owner-trainer Scott Schwartz, Pocket Cowboys ($12) raced alone in third position down the backstretch tracking a duel between 6-5 favorite Straight Story and Midnight Billy in a strung-out field of 10.

ELMONT, N.Y. - The third time was the charm for Meese Rocks, who held off a late runs from R Betty Graybull and My Dinah to win Saturday's $125,000 Iroquois Stakes, after settling for second in two recent attempts against those rivals in seven-furlong overnight stakes.

Meese Rocks grabbed the early lead under Ramon Dominguez through fractions of 22.50 and 45.91 seconds, shook off challenges around the turn to remain clear in midstretch after six furlongs in 1:10.50, and held sway to score by 2 1/4 lengths.

Lovely Leean rides rail to win Indiana Stallion Stakes

Lovely Leean took advantage of a ground saving trip under Orlando Mojica to win the $88,350 Indiana Stallion at Hoosier Park on Saturday afternoon.

Trained by Ricky Short, Lovely Leean was kept on the rail and was back early. Mojica got through along the rail in the stretch and Lovely Leean drew clear late to win by 1 1/2 lengths. The favored A little Order led late, but finished second, four lengths in front of Cindy Sweet Cindy in third.
