Del Mar will race 31 days from July 16 to Sept. 6. After two three-day weekends, racing will be held four days a week for most of the season.

Del Mar is revamping its pick-six format this summer to mirror a long-standing structure currently in place at Santa Anita.

The track will have a 20-cent Rainbow pick six, with a portion of the pool placed into a carryover until there is a single winning ticket, or until a program is designated for a mandatory payout.

The format change was part of a lengthy discussion about the summer meeting from July 16 to Sept. 6 at the California Horse Racing Board’s monthly meeting on Wednesday. The racing board unanimously approved the track’s license.
