Epic storms that caused the cancellation of the latter part of Friday's card could mean that the fourth race, a solid allowance route, will be moved to the main track. Otherwise, the early pick four at Keeneland on Saturday does appear to be pretty straightforward.
RACE 2
It's a fantastic Blue Grass Saturday card at Keeneland with four graded stakes races, including the historic Kentucky Derby prep itself.
I'm going to key the following horses in multiple-race wagers and will play them to win if they meet my odds requirements:
Race 6 – Madison Stakes
There are 21 3-year-olds that will run in Saturday’s three Kentucky Derby prep races. Only three – Frosted in the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct, Classy Class in the Blue Grass at Keeneland, and Cross the Line in the Santa Anita Derby – have raced at 1 1/8 miles. All three were defeated. In these Derby preps, the Wizard is searching for clues about a horse’s ability to handle 1 1/4 miles on the first Saturday in May. Distance limitation is a common denominator among many of this year’s 3-year-olds.

It’s Santa Anita Derby Day, meaning more races than usual, and thus likely more options than usual. That said, a couple of maiden races start the day, the opener looking like a difficult maiden claimer and race 2 appearing to be dominated by heavy chalk NEVER ENDS, so you might have to wait a bit to find some price potential.
Here are a few horses who may prove worthy to be your linchpins for in-race and multirace wagers and a look at the pick four.
Race 5
Another week, another huge day of racing. It’s opening weekend at Keeneland, but the weather could affect the track, especially the turf races. Again, let’s use DRF Formulator to look at a few plays around the country. Formulator allows you to see the lifetime past performances of horses who have run in the past five years for any trainer who has horses entered, as well as charts, replays, filters, and more. With access to this database and with one-click access to replays, it can allow you to see some things that aren’t readily available to the betting public.
Saturday’s card at Santa Anita Park is strong, offering salty fields and solid wagering opportunities. I’ll be looking to play the pick three that is made up of all graded stakes races – the Santa Anita Oaks, Santa Anita Derby, and Providencia (races 7-9).
