To be perfectly honest, I find Saturday's card at Belmont extremely unappealing. It is made up of short fields full of logical low-priced favorites. It is not a card I'm playing with gusto.
After perusing the past performances, I will key the following two horses in multiple-race wagers and bet them to win if they meet my odds requirements:
Race 5 - Claiming
Saturday’s card at Santa Anita is surprisingly unappetizing considering it’s California Gold Rush Day. Out of the entire card there’s really only one horse that I’m looking to make a big play with – other than that it’s very much a sit-back-and-enjoy sort of day, for me. Here are some opinions on a few races.
RACE 3
Some good-sized competitive fields give the end-of-the-card pick four some appeal. There are a couple fairly heavy favorites, but they’re not unbeatable, so if you can topple them, you can eliminate many other tickets.

After Unpretentious, our top Pick last week, was scratched, we thought we might have has a gimmick shot with our 47-to-1 second choice, Prepper, but he got fried early and pooped out late and we were left holding tickets. Landing between Preakness week and Memorial Day, Saturday’s racing is short on top-class stakes. Just two graded stakes are on the docket: the Grade 3 Louisville Handicap at Churchill Downs and the Grade 2 Nassau at Woodbine.
Not having a strong opinion in the Nassau, let’s take a crack at the Louisville and two lesser stakes, the Majestic Light at Monmouth and the Prairie Rose at – where else? – Prairie Meadows.
Louisville Handicap
Trainer Jeremiah Englehart saddles Secret Fortune (#5, ML 3-1) in Thursday’s seventh race at Belmont Park, a seven-furlong allowance on turf. Since Jan. 1, 2014, Englehart is winning at a 26 percent clip in allowances, for a return on investment of $2.55.

Gryvon (#3, ML 3-1) makes his return in Thursday’s seventh race at Gulfstream Park, a seven-furlong optional claimer. It will be his first start since a first-place finish by four lengths in a six-furlong optional claimer April 4 at Gulfstream Park. The second- and third-place finishers from that race came back to win their next starts.
