Coast to Coast Pick 5 play for Sunday, March 3, 2024

Sir London returns from a layoff in an allowance race Sunday at Gulfstream Park, the opening leg of the Coast to Coast Pick 5.

GP RACE 10: SIR LONDON was gelded after a flat fourth in a rich allowance at Keeneland in October and has worked encouragingly at Palm Meadows for accomplished layoff trainer Graham Motion. SCRAMBLE, another talented comebacker, nearly cleared the first allowance condition at Saratoga after running competitively against the likes of Kalik and Program Trading at Belmont. (2)

Weekend GamePlan: Picks for Fountain of Youth, Gotham, Davona Dale

Locked after BC Juvenile at SA Nov 3 2023
Debra A. Roma
With Speak Easy and Dornoch's stock on the rise, Locked could be the overlooked horse in the Fountain of Youth.

Some hold that a good betting race is one with a large field that lacks standouts. Sometimes, however, a large field lacking standouts simply is inscrutable, which appears to be the case in many of the Saturday stakes at Gulfstream. A couple of more obvious Florida horses, though, might offer value, and there’s good reason to get involved in the Aqueduct feature.

Claiming sprinter stumbled badly, away last, zoomed forward to press, hung tough to deep stretch, tired. Excellent effort by gray eligible to $12.5k claiming, non-winners of three.

Weekend GamePlan: Picks for Saudi Cup, Rebel Stakes, Gulfstream Park Sprint

Senor Buscador (right) during Pegasus World Cup at GP Jan 27 2024
Barbara D. Livingston
Senor Buscador (right) excels around one turn, will get a hot pace setup in the Saudi Cup, and chief rival White Abarrio is stuck in post 1 in a 14-horse field.

Sometimes, one must look far afield, maybe even halfway around the world, to find value. Fine, we’re on it. The Saudi Cup goes off just as the East Coast tracks get down to Saturday business. Stick around till late afternoon for a Derby prep in Arkansas.

Saudi Cup

I have long contended (not that anyone was listening) Senor Buscador is a better horse racing around one turn than two, and here, for $20 million, he can prove it.
